Abstract

Introduction: The intestinal microbiota has been the target of many studies, mainly because of its relation with organism homeostasis. Dysbiosis of these microorganisms is associated with metabolic disorders such as diabetes, dyslipidemia and obesity. Obesity is one of the major public health problems due to its comorbidities and bariatric surgeries are presented as a therapeutic alternative for this condition. Methods: Systematic review at Pubmed, Scielo and Lilacs databases was performed using the descriptors: bariatric / bariatric surgery, and microbiota / microbioma / bacteria / flora and their synonyms in Portuguese and Spanish. Results: From 1387 initial articles, 8 were used for this study, as they are consistent with the proposed proposal. Conclusion: Bariatric surgeries modify intestinal microbiota mainly related to Proteobacteria Phylum of Proteobacteria. Further studies on the subject are needed to establish the real role of this microbiota modification.
